
Motte and Bailey Castles were old and could be easily attacked and burned down as they were made of wood. People decided that
castles should be made of a stronger material than wood so the thought of stone. some people thought that stone would be impossible
to build with and thought that wood was just fine, but eventually they decided it was a good idea.
The stone was heavy and hard to move but eventually they build one stone castle. The first stone Castle in Britain was Chepstow
Castle in wales. Although there were still wooden castles left all new castles being built were made of stone. This change
started in about the 13th century.
